Our village
LTSEN
Ltsen village in Syunik Province, Republic of Armenia. Ltsen is one of the beautiful village of Syunik Province. The village was established in 7th century.

The name of Ltsen
There is a legend associated with the name of the Ltsen. When the invaders approached the nearest territories, and planned an attack on the village, the people of village defended themselves from the mountain peaks. At the head of Nerses Kertox, they threw stones from the mountains to invader warriors, so the dam road to the village did not allow the enemy to conquer the village. During the stone-throwing, Nerses Kertoch repeated "Lets, L ... !!", that in Armenian, then throw, throw! So the name of the village remained Ltsen.
Historical facts
The village has a long history. St. Stephanos church built in 10th century. Monuments of the 7th century, a chapel built in the 13th century (Surb Khach / Saint Cross) in the territory and the village, archaeological excavations were carried out and there were finds of a later period, a settlement of 3 thousand years BC. In the Middle Ages, the "Ishkhananist" in Armenian means "The place of Prices", was in Ltsen and immediately the sepulcher of the Syunik prince Esai appeared. In 1781, the village was part of the vast Tate monastery. The village began to grow and develop started , when Armenians 1800 moved back to the land of their ancestors on a place from Khoy. The villagers had a great contribution to the liberation struggle of Syunik and to uphold the independence of the Mountainous Armenian Republic, headed by the regent Garegin Nzhdeh, who Ltsen repeatedly visited during the liberation war of 1921. After the establishment of Soviet power, in 1930 the collective farm "Ask" was established in the village. In the years of the Second World War, since 1941, the village had a hard year, when the men's was at the front, but at the same time the Saltney siped pre-set tasks for the future, while investing in the future victory. In the 1950s, there were about 75 homes in Ltsen, 170 pupils studied in the school. 1970 the agricultural collective joined the neighboring collectives of Darbas. In 1990, Ltsen, as well as the rest of Armenia, began heavy times during the war time. The village with a population of about 170 people, at the cost of the lives of the heroes of the son, participated and defended in the liberated war of Armenian lands Artsakh.
